Requirements

BC Hydro provides a means for distribution-connected customers to connect a small energy source to the BC Hydro Distribution System to offset their load and participate in the Net Metering program (RS1289) or other energy procurement offers. This document contains the technical interconnection requirements for connecting small generators to BC Hydro’s Distribution System. The total generation must have an aggregate nameplate rating of 100 kW or less. DGs with generation over this limit should refer to BC Hydro Interconnection Requirements for Power Generators 35 kV and Below.

PURPOSE AND APPLICATION
This standard defines the minimum requirements and
technical specifications for the interconnection of
distributed generation to the Hydro-Québec medium-vo
ltage (MV) distribution system. The standard is
also applicable when an existing generati
ng station must be modified or upgraded.
Given the various means of generation, modes of
interconnection and potential system constraints,
Hydro-Québec may define certain specific requirements at the time each case is reviewed.

1 PURPOSE AND FIELD OF APPLICATION
This standard defines the minimum technical requirements and specifications for connecting single-phase or three-phase decentralized generation to the Hydro-Québec low voltage (LV) distribution network. It also applies when such a plant is modified or repaired. The plants covered by this document have the following characteristics:
• maximum rated three-phase power of 600 kVA;
